Dear Karin,
Greetings through cyberspace!
I hope you get this through your blog...

I rec'd your wonderful letter and beautiful necklace just very recently--it took about 6 months to actually arrive in my hands.

After reading your letter, I immediately came here to your blog to catch up on your travels. Have you arrived home now?
I suspect so.

Your letter was just perfect! Through your writing and your insightful vignettes I got a sense of you and your life. Your blog rounded it out by placing things in context with more pix and stories. Thanks! You touched my heart with your Peru pictures and the orphan boys. I would love to know the chronology/years...e.g., I take it you went to Peru after college grad.? Then came back to the job in LA with the homeless? Was that job for about 2 years--then on to New Zealand? How marvelous to put on the back pack and travel so freely. (The nanny/pub work sounds like they were great experiences, too.) Was it good for your soul in the end?

What's up now? I can't wait to hear.

I have a birthday letter and gift for you--if you are comfortable with the idea, I would like to mail it directly to you (or your mom) instead of going through the agency as it seems to take them so long to process our letters to each other. I would certainly understand if you would prefer to continue having the agency as a liason. Just let me know through email. If I haven't heard from you by mid-April or so, I will send your letter through the agency. (I don't know how often you check in with your blog email so this seems like a reasonable plan.)

Back to you! Happy Birthday tomorrow! I am thinking of you! What a sweetie you are! I love your sense of humor and your spirit seems light and open.

Best to you and your family!
Love, Janice

ps--do you have a regular email? Would that be better than the blog? Let me know...
